In town on business, not many options. Tried Benvenuto's but won't be back on future visits...the food was so so, good for Beaver Dam (!) but the service was beyond awful to the point that my business deal was in peril. Lesson learned.

Both of us became extremely sick within a short time after our first mesl here. Definitely food related. We have eaten at the east Madison location for years, with great meals, but this one is now off limits.

The minute you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile & seated within minutes. The waitstaff is friendly & helpful. I have never had a meal I couldn't rave about to my friends. There is a good choice of wines to go with any dish. Sometimes the wait for your food is longer than expected on very busy nights so you just get out the crayons & play tic tac toe on the paper tablecloth. The atmosphere is laid back & conversation is easy without having to speak over any noise. Very enjoyable experiences at this restaurant & also the one in Madison.

I had a perfect calzone after a perfect waitress seated us. There was no wait to be seated and we were at the 6-7pm time. They almost knew some friends of ours were there and we were seated right next to them. Nothing was crowded and it it was so clean that I had barely seen crumbs. (Except the ones from me.) If you hated this resterant. Try ordering Italian instead of the opposite. BEST PART:THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!!!

As good as it gets for Beaver Dam cuisine, which admittedly isn't saying much. But this charming Italian spot holds its own at its Madison locations, too, albeit the decor gets an upgrade. I've never had a dish I didn't like. Standouts are the Chicken Pesto Penne, caesar salad, the manicotti and the steaks. The pizza is also fantastic, being of the crispy thin crust variety. Butcher paper covers the table, which adds a nice down-home element to the otherwise pretty classy interior, and makes for heated matches of the Dot Game while awaiting the food. I've neglected the best part: Complimentary warm focaccia with oil and vinegar. Molto delicioso!

First and last time I go here. We had 6 people who all but one ordered steak, 5 med and one well. We got 5 extremely over cooked steak and one edible one, after an hour wait. Even the seasoning was inconsistent, we shared a few bite and one was extremely over peppered, where another one had no flavor at all. The garlic mashed potatoes must have been cooked 3 hours earlier, they were so dry and almost "crusty" (One member mentioned their sweet potato fries were also disappointing) The free bread they give you before the meal we all agreed was awesome. (before we had any other food) Now this place has an open concept where you see the kitchen and can hear things. Things said in the kitchen show this is an untrained staff. Stuff such as, "this is burnt.. sent it anyway, if it comes back we will make a new one." The wait staff did a decent job, they are very good at apologizing. I would rate them a 4 out of 5. Dirty plates were taken away relatively fast, bread baskets filled 3-4 times while waiting.

We brought a group of about 40 here when we were in town for a skating competition. I'm from Chicago, so I know pizza, and this place could compete with the best. There's a wonderful variety of delicious, wood-fired pizzas, mouth-watering bread, and great salads. The service was also excellent. Not to be missed if you're in town. But be prepared: the place gets packed.

My friend and I met for dinner in a convenient location, which happened to be Benvenudos. We were greeted with friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, and a wonderful environment. I was impressed with all my food: wine, divine asparagus flatbread, a truffle mac and cheese, and flour less peanut butter ganache cake. We will definitely be back. Wow, so pleased!

One of the few places in Beaver Dam with an extensive Gluten-Free menu!! I usually get the salmon and it is very good. The portions aren't great, and the lunch and dinner portions seem to be the same size, just a different price. Their GF pizzas are also really delicious! The restaurant is very clean, and I've always had great customer service from the staff! This is definitely my favorite restaurant in the area!

My family and I have been going to Benv for many years (there aren't many choices for dining in Beaver Dam). They serve 3-star food at 4-star prices, which I can live with. However, this is consistently the NOISIEST restaurant i've ever been to. Imagine a birthday party ala Chuck E Cheese, and double the noise level. For dinner at $20 per plate, I expect the atmosphere to not irritate the * out of me. For fair food and chaotic ambiance, save your money and take your family to McDonalds Playland instead.

Over the years, I have eaten plenty of meals at this location. After I moved back to Madison in the early 1990s, Beaver Dam was a convenient location to meet up with my parents for the occasional celebratory meal. So when my mother and I recently decided to get together for lunch, Benvenuto's was our obvious choice. I have come to expect stellar service at this restaurant and my most recent visit did not disappoint. Our server (Donna - they write their name on the table) cordially greeted us, shared the daily specials and took our order. She immediately provided with freshly baked, herb-encrusted bread and bottle of olive oil poured on to a plate of dried herbs. I am a fan of this bread, which has olive oil baked into the crust of the bread, amping up both its flavor and its texture. Throughout of meal, Donna checked periodically to keep my coffee topped off, clear dishes and to make sure were satisfied with our entrees. If we raised an issue with the food (a little foreshadowing, kids), she promptly and professionally resolved the issue. For a casual dining environment, she provided five star service. While the kitchen demonstrated some decent technique to my meal, the run-of-the-mill ingredients left me largely underwhelmed. After glancing at my soup and sandwich, my eighty year-old mom snidely commented "looks like you got the Sysco special" If Yelp ever comes out with a paper and pen edition, she is Elite material. My cup of cheddar beer soup looked and tasted more like melted American cheese. The beer and cheese flavors just did not mesh very well. The texture was OK and it actually served as a decent dipping sauce for my sandwich. It just was not much to get excited about as a soup. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich looked well constructed, with its nicely browned bread and mounds of sliced ham. Despite the fact that the kitchen did a nice job of preparing the sandwich, the use of unexceptional ingredients sabotaged their efforts. Instead of a daily special that highlights the uniqueness of the restaurant, I got a generic tasting ham and cheese sandwich. It wasn't bad, just nothing "special". The most frustrating component was the cheese, which reminded me of a melted Kraft Single. It's a shame that in a state with so many award winning cheese makers the restaurant would utilize such a bland choice. My mom ordered the garlic shrimp pizza (sautéed shrimp, roasted garlic, sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil on an.), a dish she enjoyed in the past. Like my sandwich, her pizza passed the eye test. However, the promised roasted garlic was missing in action and while the shrimp were plump and tender, they did not appear to be sautéed. Again, this entrée did not bring robust flavors to the table. After expressing our disappointment with pizza, the server confided that the restaurant recently changed its recipe, ditching the flavorful Alfredo sauce for a more restrained olive oil brushed crust. She did offer to get us some Alfredo sauce for a 50-cent up charge, which we gladly agreed to pay. She also added that we could request this dish be prepared in the old way with the Alfredo sauce. At the end of the lunch, I had plenty to eat, but the meal was far from satisfying. In many ways, is Benvenutos is morphing into a locally owned version of Olive Garden, but with superior service. The managers this location generally run a tight ship - the restaurant is impeccably clean, the cooks seem proficient and the servers remarkably well trained. The formula definitely works, as demonstrated by a full house for Thursday lunch service. However, an Italian - American menu that seems a bit clichéd and the use of unremarkable ingredients is relegating this popular franchise to mediocrity.

The last couple of times we been there for dinner the food and service has been much better then it used to be. The waitress has been friendly, helpful and kept coming around to check. This time we all got something that was a special. I got the pecan honey boiled walleye with sweet potato fries. Had just the right amount of sweetness and the fries were crispy but too few. M dad got the cajun pasta with shrimp. He said had nice spice. It didn't have him grabbing for water to cool his mouth down. Mom got the lemon tilapia. Nothing special but good. The time before I got the chicken/pear gorgonzola pizza. Really different. Liked the contrast between sweetness and saltiness. The balsamic glaze made it. Love the bread basket. The bread is flavorful and can dip it in olive oil. Put when waiting both time ( not a very big waiting area. Really cold in the winter cause the door is right there. Bar isn't much better) the hostess were nice but their friends kept coming in to see when they get off. Wasn't a big deal, but come on.

We got take out. The place is a little pricey for what you get. My Sister-In-Law loved her fish dish. I got the chicken Parmesan dish. The chicken in the dish was very good, the tomato sauce was lack luster. They forgot the soups that came with the dishes but did deliver them to our house. I tried my husbands dish as well and was not impressed. I found the sauce to also be bland.

I have eaten here many times over the years and I still love it. The food is great and the service is always excellent. My husband is from New York and he loves their calzones. I recently took my Mother-in-Law here for lunch and she loved the crispy chicken wrap. Benvenuto's is one of the only decent places to eat in Beaver Dam.

I've eaten here MANY times. I eat here at least once a month and have for a few years now. The pizza is really good. Love the bread as well. Service is usually good, if you have a large party they add a gratuity to the bill and aren't always clear to you that they did it. Now I know to look for it. They do have a dining card that I use to get coupons to use for future visits as well. They don't really take reservations, and that can be problematic as well if you're looking to have a larger group in for dinner and would like specific seating. Probably thought of as the best dining experience to have in the Beaver Dam area, though. I can't think of a better place to have a nice dinner. Several options available to my wife & I as vegetarians as well.

Great service, vast menu (Italian, steaks, sandwiches, etc.). I dropped in for a quick dinner meeting, had the kids with me--they took care of special requests and treated us like regulars.

Despite high hopes Benvenutos was the worst dining experience I've had in Beaver Dam. It was nearly an hour from the time we ordered until our food arrived. The staff was unapologetic and made token effort to remedy the situation after we brought up the length of the wait. The food when it did arrive was sub par and almost tasteless. Save yourself the aggregation and stop at Applebees instead.

Not many choices for restaurant in Beaver Dam, Benvenuto's truely differentiates itself for quality. Typical pasta and pizza choices, yet all the dishes are flavorful and well prepared. This place definitely gets my vote.

I thought my mom would love the treat of a nice dinner, so we searched the internet for local great places to dine in Beaver Dam which is where she resides. I recognized the name of this eatery and decided to give it a shot. Wow, what a huge mistake. The hostess station was promptly pillared when you entered, and the greeting super sweet and friendly. The wait for a table at 7 pm friday night was a norm 15 mins. Mom and I decided to sit in the bar area and have us a libation. The bartenders were incredibly friendly and made a killer martini. At this point, I was very hopeful the rest of the evening would follow suit. We were seated in large booth amongst the tight crowded dining room. Almost as if a walking area used to exist, but efforts were made to cram to capacity. Out server was very good, patient and attentive at the appropriate increments. The extreme sadness was the food. We had both decided on the Friday Prime Rib, with soup(clam chowder) and potatoes. One roasted rosemary, the other butter parsley. My mom loves Calamari so after reading the menu where is stated the appetizer was "lightly breaded" we opted to indulge. This came out on a platter with a heavy dark coating, no tentacles as promised, and the dish was loaded with tiny popcorn like crumbs of just breading. larger pieces were stuck together and doughy in the conjoined areas. How this was allowed to make it to our table was beyond me. The Clam Chowder was very runny, but had a nice flavor. No bragging here. The Prime Rib was a generous cut, ordered Med Rare but came out Med. The parley/butter Potatoes were overcooked and disintegrated in your mouth. Yuck. After eating only partial of the entree, we wanted to share a dessert and both were just tickled to maybe get a satisfaction from a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake. Sure sounded incredible by their menu description. All it was was a dried skinny layered piece of cake, lying on it's side with a dusting of powdered sugar. It was chalky, and tasted like Hershey's cocoa powder. no moist ah ha moment, no nothing. one bite was all it took. So thats it. Danni Ms. Manager on duty knew of all our disappointment and never came to discuss anything with us. Nice JOB!! You should be aware of what is being served at your place, listen and try to fix it. No recommendation to visit here. take your money and run.

I had heard about this restaurant and stopped by on the recommendation of a friend. I was surprised that the menu wasn't strictly Italian. I chose spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was cooked more in the true Italian form. The meat balls were a total surprise. Very soft in texture with a definite taste. Almost spicy in an Italian way. And they contained sausage. Excellent.

I echo, "as good as it gets for Beaver Dam". This place is where a lot of my friends and relatives go when here and they like it fine. We have had some fine meals here too. Nothing to rave about. A little crowded. If you want an ok meal with some better flavor than most places around here then go to Benvenuto's.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
